Jovica Storer (real name Joost Carpentier) has been creating music with sequencer software since 1989. It was only then that he had put enough money aside to buy himself a computer, sequencing software (Dynaduet) and a Korg DSS-1 Digital Sampling Workstation. The very first experiment he did with these tools was an ode to the work of Phlilp Glass for the Koyaanisqatsi movie from Godfrey Reggio (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koyaanisqatsi). If you know the music of this movie, then you will probably notice similarities with Life out of balance.
Track 1, original balance, is the original 1989 sequences as they were originally written performed on a more recent piano (Arturia Piano V2) and also using the full polyphony... my DSS-1 only had 8 note polyphony and the piano sound was quite metallic and poor compared to the possibilities from 2021...
Track 2, new balance, uses exactly the same sequences, but I use new sound source to perform the score.
Track 3, out of balance, also uses the original sequences, but here I deviate more from the originally intended effect by choosing more experimental sound sources.
Finally track 4, restored balance, uses the original sequences, but not the original order of the sequences and I added some additional layers with new sequences and sounds.
This is the first album in the From the vault series. The From the vault series of album will contain all older work from Jovica Storer.
